Naturopathic Medicine is a distinct primary health care profession, emphasizing prevention, treatment, and optimal health through the use of therapeutic methods and substances that encourage individuals’ inherent self-healing process. Naturopathic doctors combine the wisdom of nature with the rigors of modern science. Steeped in traditional healing methods, principles and practices, Naturopathic Medicine focuses on holistic, proactive prevention and comprehensive evaluations and recommendations. By using protocols that minimize the risk of harm, Naturopathic doctors help facilitate the body’s inherent ability to restore and maintain optimal health. It is the Naturopathic doctor’s role to identify and remove barriers to good health by helping to create a healing internal and external environment. Naturopathic doctors work worldwide in private practices, hospitals, clinics and community health centers. Qualified Naturopathic doctors undergo rigorous training and board examination before they are able to become licensed healthcare practitioners. Visit the AANP's Professional Education page at www.naturopathic.org to learn more about Naturopathic education.
Naturopathic Practice
At Naturopathic House, our scope includes the following diagnostic and therapeutic modalities: clinical and laboratory diagnostic testing, nutritional medicine, botanical medicine, naturopathic physical medicine (including naturopathic manipulative therapy as well as therapeutic massage and body work), public health measures, sleep hygiene, counseling, homeopathy where applicable, intravenous and injection therapy, and in WA State only, prescribe medication.
While Naturopathic Doctors do not prescribe medication in the state of North Carolina, Dr. Kovner can provide medication monitoring and consultation. She has a current license to prescribe medications in WA State and patients must be physically located in WA state to receive these services. However, Dr. Kovner provides medication monitoring and consultation. She works closely with an integrative MD who has a current NC license to prescribe and monitor pharmaceutical medication to patients physically located in the state of North Carolina. Please note that patients in all other states where NDs are not otherwise licensed, Naturopathic House can provide telehealth services and recommend nutraceuticals, botanicals, supplements and vitamins but not pharmaceutical medications. In order to better serve you, Naturopathic House does not accept any health insurance. Instead, we provide education along with our naturopathic medicine so patients heal, get well and have the ability to evolve beyond where they were before they got sick. Over time, you need us less and less but we are always there for you!
